In some parts of the country this business will be seasonal. In areas where the winters include snow you could rent a storage unit and offer to store people's bicycles during the winter after you do a tune-up or other needed repairs. Many bicycle enthusiasts don't let snow or rain interfere with their bicycle riding, so you could potentially have repairs all year long. This business could be started out of your garage.

Business Plan Service:
There are some people that just don't like paperwork. You can offer to develop a business plan for these individuals that covers everything from the market research, the business plan narrative and the financial statements. You can start with a basic template for the business plan and then charge extra for any add-on services they might want you to perform. Have several different sample business plans that you can show clients.

Cleaning Service:
With this business you can choose to focus on night time hours or day time hours. If you prefer working at night when nobody else is around, then target offices or retail businesses as your clients. Typically, you can get customers that are within two to three blocks from each other which will cut your driving time down. If you prefer day time hours, then target home owners. This business can be started with very little money because you won't have to spend a lot on advertising because most of your customers will be by word of mouth.

Consultant:
In order to be successful as a consultant, you need to have an expertise in something so you can market yourself as an adviser to others looking to work in that area. Perhaps you have a background in project management. You can market yourself to construction firms, private homeowners, or corporations or really anybody that has a project that needs to be completed. You can use your knowledge in project management to assist individuals in planning and executing their projects.

Event Planning:
The first thing you are going to want to do is visit each potential event location that you might be working with. Take a tour of the facility and ask what is available at each location. Start a database that will allow you to sort the event location by various features such as the number of people each site holds, will you need to arrange for rental chairs, are there outdoor as well as indoor. Using a database will allow you to meet with a client, establish their criteria and then easily find three or four sites that meet the basic criteria for the event.

Flea Market:
People like to spend time rummaging through tables full of other people's unwanted items, looking for treasures. You can either sell items on consignment or if you have a large area, rent out booth space for individuals to come and sell their own items. Make sure that you move items around periodically so that it gives the impression that new items are arriving daily. You could easily expand this business idea into a farmer's market by letting the local gardener's sell their produce.
